Some more confusion, but great success.
Well the trucking company said they would not deliver our pallets to San Cristóbal as requested on Tuesday. So we have hired a truck to go to Tuxla (45min). To pick up 2 of the 3 pallets. The third will go in the THP truck.
We arrived at the warehouse, and it took a while to get them to understand that we were there to pick up the cargo.
Then it took a while for them to understand that the pallet containing the wood mold parts is heavy. Originally they wanted to put it in the THP truck. Once they understood it was too heavy (600kg) for the THP truck, all was good. However we did go round and round a few times, until everyone was in agreement.
The loaders did a great job getting them in the trucks. Without stabbing or damaging them ?. Like most things that have happened it seems like it happens way too fast to get good photos.
We then went back through San Cristóbal, and up to the community of Aldama. It’s about an hour’s drive up into the mountains from San Cristóbal.
We arrived to sort of a celibration of sorts. The entire community was there to great us. One must understand that this project has been delayed several times for various reasons and at some level the community had lost faith that it would ever happen.
Thus, to see us arriving with two trucks of stuff made them very happy. After some initial greetings we got to work unloading the trucks. First was the two containers of plastic molds. Each pallet – box weighed about 215kg. With a little man power they were out of the truck in short order. Next came the pallet of cut wood. Most of the pieces were tied up into bundles so with everyone helping the 600kg load was safely in the house in no time.
Margarita then held a community meeting to explain what was going to happen over the next few days.
We left about an hour later and got back to our casa around 8:45pm.
One big step closer ?
