We have been busy

Sorry for the delay in writing another post, but Stan and I have been crazy busy. We are making progress, but it is slower than we would like. We the first set of molds assembled and ready for casting the first stove.

Like most things, we had to overcome some challenges. A major one was getting the remaining wood parts cut that the wood shop in DF did not do. We went to two different places to find the place that could do it.

I worked with Jose, for a good 4 hours helping cut the parts correctly. I was a little challenging, but between us, we came up with some good ideas on how to cut them with the limited functionality of the table saw.

The parts are not as “nice” as I would like, but they will work. And no one lost any fingers or scrapped any production parts.

We have also been challenged by the fact that a bag of Silica sand was lost or not on the shipment of materials. Our solution was to buy a bag in Mexico City and put it on the bus. If all goes well. It should arrive today (Tuesday).

The drive to and from the community (Aldama) is about 1.5 – 2 hours depending on who is driving. Thus our days are long, but the work time is short.

Another challenge is my laptop crashed and I am hoping to do a full reinstall of windows will revive it. I ordered a new OS, from TechSoup (discount tech for non-profits), but it will take Microsoft 3 – 5 days to approve the request so I can download it on Stan’s computer.
