Everything is on the truck to Chiapas

Finally. The plastic molds (picked up about noon). We got to Fausto’s warehouse at about 8am, so we had some time to hang out, although not relaxing.

We then went to Madeplus to help put the wood parts on the pallet. It was sort of like the game Jenga but in reverse. Earlier in the day, Madeplus said they would be ready at 2 pm, and it was on the truck at 1:45!  The same guys that picked up the plastic molds arrived around 1pm.  We were a little panicked because we were not expecting them until around 2pm.  We were happy to find out that they were more than happy to relax and hang out until we were ready.

It has been a challenge and a struggle, but we have passed a HUGE milestone. Getting everything on the truck to San Cristobal.

The wood shop Madeplus looks like they did a great job. Eduardo did a great job both managing the job and cutting wood. He speaks good English, is an engineer and is super excited about our project. He understood the drawings and is the guy who programs the CNC to cut all the plywood.  It turns out they have one of the biggest wood cutting CNCs in DF.  It can cut 20 pieces of 1/2″ plywood at a time!  Eduardo and his team did a great job and FAST.  We estimated that the wood would take 2 pallets, but we got it all onto one. This will save us some money in shipping costs.

Stacking the pallet

We will need to modify some of the parts because one of their saws was broken. We know that the wood shop in San Cristóbal is capable of finishing up what we need.  Hopefully without too much delay.

Now we need to get ourselves to San Cristóbal. Hopefully, we can get a reasonably priced airline ticket. Otherwise, it would be a 14-hour bus ride, vs a 1.5-hour flight.

I am writing most of this in the Uber on my phone on our way back to the THP office.

We still have a ton of work to do when we get to San Cristóbal, however, it will feel much more productive. We are hoping to have a place to work assembling the molds over the weekend. It is a holiday (Independence Day) which is a Huge celebration, so we don’t know if we will be able to or not.

Back at the office, we got a flight Thursday afternoon.???✈️ No long bus ride. And the next AirBnB canceled (Wed-Friday), it was just in case we needed to stay longer in DF. We are glad we don’t.

Bye, for now, I know more exciting news and times are ahead.
