Another BIG DAY in DF Monday

We started early on Monday, with the help of one of our volunteers Alex (lives in DF) we submitted buds for shipping the plywood molds and the plastic molds that came from the US down to Chiapas. We then Urbered over to the woodshop to settle up a bill and review their work. We were set to go straight to Fausto’s warehouse, but we forgot the shrink wrap, so we got Stan set up with a Urber account, and he went back to the office while I went to Tornillos Cleo to get some springs and small files.

Then I met Stan at Fausto’s warehouse just about the time when Fausto arrived to open it up for us. Stan and I started unpacking and repacking the boxes so we could have 6 sets of molds ready to ship to Chiapas. Much to our relief, everything arrived in perfect shape. I was worried that the molded parts might be warped from the heat sitting at the border area. But good luck is with us (finally). We were about halfway through the repacking process when a co-worker of Fausto’s came so Fausto could go back to the main office (15 min away). We discussed where we cold get some quick good tacos because it was after 2pm and we needed some food for the afternoon. Arturo led us on a 10 min walk to a great place where we all got a HUGE plate of chicken mole (red and black) along with beans, rice, soup and fresh pineapple juice. For the three of us it was only $220P = $12.22 USD! After lunch we went back to warehouse to finish up. We got the 2 boxes repacked and sealed up ready to ship down to Chiapas. All we need to to is to borrow Fausto’s banding tool to strap them to the pallets.

We then Ubered over to Fausto’s office and coordinated how we wold get them banded. We then headed back to the THP office and started to do computer work again.

After about 20 minutes my laptop stopped working – battery not charging. I had this “fixed” a few months ago. But I guess it was not really fixed. I hopped into another Uber to a place that might be able to fix it but they could not. I got back to the apartment about 8:15 or so. I may take it downtown in the morning to another place that can fix it. Thus I am using Stans’ laptop to finish up this post.

If all goes well (and we think it will) the boxes and wood will be shipped on Wednesday and arrive in San Cristobal on Friday 🙂 and we either fly or take a 12 hour bus ride (depending on the cost of the flight).
