DESCRIPTION

Our Spanish Language (Latin America) Translation Associate will work directly with our Cultural Liaison Officer, the co founders, and our other translators to help us with the day-to-day activities of translating, researching and helping us interface with our enterprises in Latin America. Because Water for Humans is a U.S. based organization, we must be able to effectively communicate with our partners in Latin America. This will include written translation of documents and being our language liaison for voice communications. Because Water for Humans is a startup, staff are not co-located (we all work out of our homes). Thus, the candidate must be able to work independently and be very comfortable working remotely via phone and the internet. Furthermore, we are most interested in candidates who would like to join us as a partner in this venture and make a long-term commitment to our mission in Latin America and beyond.

Water for Humans operates in a team-oriented work environment, and individuals are expected to demonstrate leadership qualities and perform with high standards of integrity, demonstrate maturity, listen actively, value self-understanding, exhibit deep commitment, use good humor, and communicate effectively. Requirements: • Familiarity with Latin American cultures a must. Familiarity with Mexican cultures would be ideal.

• Ability to connect with people and to understand cultural and economic obstacles.

• Fluency in English and Spanish (written- verbal)

• Computer literate (MS-Word, MS-Excel or similar, and web research)

• Must have computer with broadband web access

• College degree or relevant experience

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work directly with our Cultural Liaison Officer, the co-founders, and other translators

• Translate documents (English-Spanish)

• Support Spanish version web site

• Assist to build strong and respectful relationships with target communities.

• Assist with existing partners in Latin America.

• Potential travel to field offices two or three times per year
