DonationsWater for Humans is implementing its first constructed wetland for wastewater treatment in Santo Domingo Barrio Bajo Etla in the Valles Centrales of Oaxaca, just outside of Oaxaca City, Southeastern Mexico. Your donation contributes to the elimination of black water contamination in Santo Domingo and nearby Guadalupe Etla. A winding dirt road connects these two rural communities. Dogs scurry between them, trucks bounce over potholes; fruit venders peddle their fresh yield daily. Ominous, pregnant clouds loom on the horizon, but no rain comes. As the end of the wet season draws near, farmers living in the central valley become increasingly concerned about their financial well-being. Seasons are getting shorter by the year, drastically reducing the amount of irrigation water available. Residents of Guadalupe Etla and Santo Domingo are environmentally conscious individuals, sharing in quarterly trash pick-up days, educating their school-aged children about the natural environment and keeping water use to a minimum. While these positive contributions to the community create lasting ties, so does an intolerable environmental hazard bringing the two together: a defunct sewer treatment plant and resulting black water stream. Water for Humans recognizes the critical need of ensuring sanitation and safe drinking water today and in the future. Our initial project is designed to eliminate current black water contamination, build support for watershed restoration and secure funds to support our work. Water for Humans collaborates with local educational and nongovernment organizations, such as INSO (Instituto de la Naturaleza y la Sociedad de Oaxaca) and the Universidad Autónoma de Benito Juarez Oaxaca (UABJO), to accomplish our goal of clean water for all. On behalf of the people of Guadalupe Etla and Santo Domingo Barrio Bajo Etla, thank you for considering donating to our organization. Your support goes directly to our programs to bring sanitation and safe, clean water to underserved communities. All funds donated are tax deductable and support our implementation projects in Guadalupe Etla and Santo Domingo Barrio Bajo Etla in Oaxaca, Mexico. Our secure online donation system is through Click & Pledge. For more information about Click & Pledge, please see http://www.clickandpledge.com.
